Initial thoughts for the New Year

It has been a couple of weeks since my last post, so, let me start by wishing you all the best for 2009. If it is anything like mine has started it’s going to be a great one! Two weeks off from school allowed for a great deal of subconcious thinking and visioning, I’ve come […]

Safer Neighbourhoods

It has now been a week since the launch of our safer neighbourhoods area on FROG. The students have really engaged with it so far, with a number of posts being put on the forum – mainly asking about our PC/PCSO who come into school every week – who they are/why they come in… Feedback […]

Embedding online applications into FROG

The development of web based applications are going to see some interesting developments in schools. A few weeks ago, one of my students showed me an online graphics application called Sumo Paint. This student is studying CiDA (Certificate in Digital Applications) and did not have photoshop/fireworks at home but wanted to continue with work. This […]

Developing stronger Community Partnerships

Over the weekend I wrote a page to be embedded in the student portal to develop our already strong relationships with our local safer neighbourhoods team. Film Crew @ Costello

A three man film crew has just spent the last hour at the college working with some students, a governor and myself on a project commissioned by FROG. Students did exceptionally well in terms of explaining how the learning platform is being used. Can’t wait to see the results!

Securing Culture of E-Learning

Just finished the staff meeting here at Costello that has been put over to securing the vision of E-Learning at the college. In an hour and 10 minutes I’ve tried to develop staff’s understanding of E-Learning, where we are now and where we want to go – securing our vision of E-Learning in the process. […]

Embedded Outlook Web Access

We’re currently running two email systems here at college. We’ve run an Exchange server here for a few years now and don’t want to lose some of the functionality that we currently have, so we are running FROG mail alongside. Outlook is being used by staff for administration. Any emails to students are done through […]
