Well, Google have surpassed themselves now – not only do we have google maps for mapping our terrain and landscape. We now have Google Body – the simplest analogy that I can think of is Google Earth for the human body. I can see this latest offering from Google being a valuable aid to the delivery of human biology both within the realms of Science and Physical Education lessons. It allows the user to explore the human form, by effectively focusing on different ‘layers’ of the body – skin, muscles and tendons, bones, internal organs etc… You can use either simple or more complex slider controls to select the layers that are visible. The search tool is excellent – allowing students to locate specific anatomical regions of interest and manipulate the view in 3 dimensions. You can also write notes and annotate with additional information.
A great resource!
